The Canal de Jonction, that flows through Sallèles-d’Aude, is now on UNESCO World Heritage list. This is why it is crucial to look after it the best way we can. The parks department staff is always concerned about the inhabitants’ living conditions but also about the public image of the village tourists can have.
With this in mind, the maintenance department and the parks department work hand in hand to create and improve park areas all around the village.
Each year in May, many flower display cases are carefully placed in every corner of Sallèles-d’Aude (footbridge, place de la République, bridges, barriers...). Once in place, these display cases are taken care of by the parks department. They need to be watered 3 times a week and, from July on, are also given fertiliser once a month.
The parks department staff also looks after all the plants and flower beds of the village and of the city hall. These natural decorations are important and create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere that Sallèles-d’Aude seeks to preserve at all costs.
Maintenance in the village
Quality of life in Sallèles-d’Aude is a criterion the city hall always keeps in mind. It depends on various factors such as the maintenance of street furniture. These tasks are generally carried out by the maintenance department under the supervision of the councillors. They include painting bus shelters, making wrought iron guardrails or even refurbishing the boat at the village’s entrance coming from Saint-Marcel.
